The Center for Implementation and Evaluation of Education Systems at 黑料不打烊 (CIEES) is delighted to announce that Dr. Jonna Bobzien has accepted the role of executive director of CIEES. She has served 黑料不打烊 as the Communication Disorders and Special Education Department Chairperson and as the Special Education Graduate Program Director.
Dr. Bobzien is a co-primary investigator on Virginia Department of Education personnel preparation grants; a 325K U.S. Department of Education Grant to prepare teachers to work with students with high needs disabilities; and a 325D U.S. Department of Education grant preparing individuals for leadership roles in adapted physical education. Dr. Bobzien serves on the editorial boards of Preventing School Failure, Frontiers in Psychiatry, Social Cognition, the International Journal of Autism & Related Disabilities, and the Journal of Behavioral Education. Additionally,
Dr. Bobzien has served as a reviewer for the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research Field Initiated Projects Program and for the National Science Foundation (NSF) Disability and Rehabilitation Engineering (DARE) grant competition programs. Dr. Bobzien's research interests include supports for transition-age students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and/or intellectual disability (ID), the use of technology-based approaches to learning and coaching, and curricular approaches and quality of life measures for students with significant ID.
As a classroom teacher, Dr. Bobzien taught in both school and hospital environments, implementing evidence-based practices that promoted the success of students with ASD, ID, and significant physical disabilities. Please join us in congratulating her at jbobzien@odu.edu
